How it works

Every few minutes CheckNews reads the front pages and feeds of outlets around the world. When several outlets publish about the same event, their articles are grouped into a story. The more different outlets cover it, the higher it ranks.

Nothing is deleted: every article keeps its date, outlet, country, language and original link. That way the archive lets you go back and compare how a topic was covered over time.

What each status means

BreakingSeveral outlets published it within a very short time and it keeps adding sources.
DevelopingIt has been getting new articles at a steady pace over the last few hours.
UpdatingIt is still getting articles, more slowly.
QuietNo recent articles. It stays in the archive.

Translation and summaries

Headlines can be translated into your language, and each story can have a summary and a comparison of how its sources tell it. Both are generated with AI once and stored. They are no substitute for reading the original articles, which are always linked.

Your account and your data

You can use everything without an account: your saved stories, watchlist, views and dashboard are stored in your browser. If you create an account, they sync across devices. You can delete your account and all its data at any time from Your account. Details are in the Privacy Notice.

Corrections and complaints

If you see a wrongly grouped story, incorrect information or content that should be removed, let us know through Complaints. Each report gets a reference number so you can track it.

Do you run an outlet?

If you publish news or know an outlet, video channel or TV stream that should be included, suggest it at Add your outlet. It is free and we review it by hand.

For apps and agents

The archive has a read-only API, RSS, Atom and JSON feeds, and an MCP server for AI assistants. See the developer documentation.
